You're so impossible |
I am addicted to books. I am in love with the most amazing man in the world. I am not easily embarrassed. I have 3 cats; Sophie, Chuck & Moo. I work in a dead end job that has NOTHING to do with what I went to school for. I am happier now than I have been in years. My place of employment has provided us with a dress code change for today and tomorrow. We are allowed to wear red, white, blue, anything in regards to freedom, or FDNY or NYPD.
I’m wearing black. It feels like a day of mourning not a celebration of America and freedom. Why do I feel like people are trying to make this a happy holiday? Today reminds me how fragile we are and for the first time, how I felt unsafe in my country. I remember where I was and what I was doing like a lot of people do. I remember watching the second tower being hit, I remember watching the towers collapse into heaps of rubble. I remember the terrified looks on my teachers’ faces. I remember jumping at the sound of airplanes for weeks afterwards, trying to figure out what was going to happen now.
I’ll be remembering instead of trying to turn today into something it isn’t.
